Introduction
The 3rd International Conference on Exotic Nuclei
and Atomic Masses, ENAM2001, will be held in Aulanko near
the city of Hämeenlinna, Finland, on 2-7 July 2001.

Programme
The scientific and social
programmes are now available. The scientific programme
is preliminary, although major changes are not expected. The
programme will be updated on this web site as needed and a
final version will be given at registration.
Instructions for Conference
Proceedings Contributions
The conference proceedings will be published by the Springer
Publishing company. The invited and some selected oral
contributions will be published as a special issue of
European
Physical Journal A. The one-volume conference
proceedings will contain a reprint of the articles from this
special issue of European Physical Journal A, as well as
contributions from all other oral and poster
presentations.
Instructions for the preparation of manuscripts can
be found from the web site of the European Physical Journal
A at http://link.springer.de/link/service/journals/10050/about.htm.
The maximum length of the proceedings contribution is
1 page for poster presentations and 4 pages for oral
presentations. The invited speakers will be notified
personally about the length of their contribution.
Contributions should be submitted to the conference
organizers (enamproc@phys.jyu.fi),
not to Springer Publishing! The preferred format for
all contributions (proceedings as well as EPJA
special issue) is LaTex according to the EPJA
specifications. The deadline for submitting the
contributions is July 7th, 2001. Please also bring a paper
copy with you to the conference.
Poster Session
The posters will be on display during the whole conference.
A special poster session is scheduled for Tuesday evening,
July 3. The recommended size of the poster is 90 cm (width)
x 140 cm (height).
Travel
Information
Finland's capital city Helsinki is served by most major
airlines. Free bus transportation from the
Helsinki-Vantaa airport to the conference venue will be
provided on Monday, July 2nd. At the ENAM2001 stand
in the arrival hall of the airport (look for a sign with the
ENAM2001 logo) you will recieve detailed information about
this transportation. Please let us know your flight number
and arrival time so that we can organize the bus
transportation in the most efficient way. The previously
indicated departure times of 15:00 and 18:00 may be changed
and other departure times will be added in order to minimize
the waiting time at the airport.
Hämeenlinna can easily be reached by bus or train from
anywhere in Finland. The timetables can be checked at
www.expressbus.com
(bus) or www.vr.fi (train).
From the Hämeenlinna bus or train station, it is most
convenient to take a taxi to Hotel Rantasipi Aulanko.
For those who do not make use of the free bus transportation
from Helsinki-Vantaa airport to Hämeenlinna on Monday,
July 2nd, below is information on how to get to
Hämeenlinna by other means.
By taxi:
A taxi costs from about 550 FIM (1-2 people) to 750 FIM (7
or more people).
By train:
There is no railway station at the Helsinki-Vantaa airport.
Buses from the airport directly to the central railway
station of Helsinki leave every 20 min between 5:45 and 1:10
from platform 1A outside the international terminal. The
trip takes about 35 minutes and costs 27 FIM.Trains from the
Helsinki central railway station to Hämeenlinna leave
at:
5:30 (Mon), 6:06 (Mon), 7:00, 8:00, 9:00, 10:00, 10:14,
11:00, 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 14:14, 14:58, 15:24, 16:04,
16:58, 17:24, 17:58, 19:00, 19:24, 20:00, 20:58, 21:22
(Sun), 22:28
The trip takes about 1 hour and 10 min, and tickets cost
82-94 FIM (13.8-15.8 EUR).
By bus:
Buses directly from the Helsinki airport to Hämeenlinna
leave at:
00:15, 01:20, 03:40 (Mon, Tue, Fri, Sun), 5:40 (Mon-Sat),
21:10, 22:10, 23:10. During the day, there is about 1 bus
per hour, but one needs to change buses at "Keimolanportti",
which is about 15 minutes from the airport.
Social Activities
Monday: welcome reception at the conference hotel
from 19:00 till 21:00
Tuesday evening is reserved for relaxation or sports
activities in the beautiful surroundings of Aulanko
Wednesday: a cocktail reception hosted by the City of
Hämeenlinna followed by a buffet dinner in Vanajanlinna,
an elegant combination of Baroque and Scandinavian
Renaissance styles
Thursday: an evening cruise in the midsummer sun
alongside beautiful Finnish scenery
Friday: conference dinner with entertainment and
dance
Saturday: an opportunity to enjoy Finnish sauna
Accompanying Persons'
Programme
The registered accompanying persons are welcome to join the
conference delegates in the social activities mentioned
above. In addition, a day tour aroun Hämeenlinna will
be arranged on Wednesday. Towards the end of the week, an
optional visit to Helsinki, a Cultural Capital of the year
2000 and a fascinating shopping city, can also be
arranged.
